Brief
History
Dated back to June 9, 1995.
Upon the government decree No. 50/PM, Faculty of Engineering &
Architecture (FEA) was established by the merging of five higher Institutes:
National Polytechnic Institute (founded in 1984), School of Electronics (founded
in 1977), School of Communication and Transportation (founded in 1983), School
of Architecture (founded in 1979), and School of Irrigation Tad Thong (founded
in 1983).The Faculty has grown to be the largest faculty of National University
of Laos.
Missions
The
Faculty of Engineering, one of those eleven faculties under the National
University of Laos (NUOL), is set up with the following
objectives:
-
To
create competent and ethical engineers.
-
To
encourage teaching development as well as research
promotion.
-
To
preserve and promote art and culture of the country.
-
To
be a center of information and technology
-
To
be a social servicing unit, in particular in technology and engineering
aspects.
State at a Glance
Students
who have passed their secondary level can continue either diploma course or
bachelor degree course. A 2-year
foundation study at NUOL main campus (SFS) is common for those who applied for
bachelor degrees. Engineering
science is followed by a 3(4)-year course provided by FE. H. Dip. courses are
3(4)-year courses FE
offers all level of studies.
The total
number of student is about 4,380 (February 2005). The number of staffs in each department
